The 6L7 is an 8-pin octal pentagrid mixer vacuum tube introduced by RCA in 1935. Designed for superheterodyne receivers, it uses separate signal-control and oscillator-injection grids to isolate the local oscillator from the input signal, reducing RF interaction and drift at higher frequencies. The standard 6L7 has a metal envelope for shielding, while the 6L7GT uses a T-9 glass envelope. Both feature a top grid cap for the RF input signal, operate on a 6.3V heater, and fit standard 8-pin octal sockets. Available NOS and tested used.
