The 6BE6 is a 7-pin miniature pentagrid converter (heptode) designed for mixer-oscillator service in superheterodyne AM radio receivers and communications equipment. Introduced in the late 1940s, it functions as both the local oscillator and the mixer stage, converting incoming RF signals down to standard IF frequencies. Serves as the miniature counterpart to the octal 6SA7. Operates on a 6.3V heater and fits standard 7-pin miniature sockets. European equivalent is EK90. Available NOS and tested used.
