The 5U4 family consists of heavy-duty, indirectly heated octal-base full-wave power rectifiers engineered for high-current power supply service in audio amplifiers, radio chassis, and television receivers. The classic 5U4G utilizes a shoulder-type (ST-16) glass envelope, while the upgraded 5U4GB features a straight-walled (T-12) envelope with redesigned internal plate structures capable of handling higher peak currents and plate dissipation. Operating on a 5.0V/3.0A filament, both variants were widely specified in high-power equipment manufactured by RCA Victor, Zenith, Philco, and Fisher. Available in NOS and tested used conditions.
