The 5CL8 (and 5CL8A) is a 9-pin miniature compound tube housing a medium-mu triode and a sharp-cutoff tetrode within a single envelope. Designed for VHF oscillator-mixer and tuner service in television receivers and multi-band radio front-ends, it operates on a 4.7V/600mA controlled warm-up series heater. It was regularly specified in late-1950s series-string chassis produced by RCA Victor, Zenith, Philco, and Admiral. Available in NOS and tested used conditions.
