The Type 27 (originally designated UY-227 or CX-327) is a 5-pin indirectly heated triode designed for detector and amplifier service in early AC-operated radio receivers. Introduced by RCA in 1927, it was the first widely adopted commercial tube to feature an isolated cathode heater structure, eliminating line-frequency hum in audio and detector stages.
